About Our Guests

Library patrons who are not students, staff, faculty, or alumni of the University are assigned Guests status of the Darling Library. There are many groups that fit into this category.

WMS Patron Type: Guest

Guest Patron Type Definition

The following groups will be assigned Guest status in WMS:

  • HIU Dorm Residents
  • CSUF students, staff, and faculty
  • HIU Non-Degree Students
    • SALT
    • Dongseo University
  • Institutes
    • Instituto Biblico Crossmont
    • Londen Institute for Evangelism
  • Consortium Members
  • Community Members
  • Other

WMS Privileges

  • Guests may borrow a maximum of five (5) books at a time.
  • Photo ID used for registration is required for circulation transactions.
  • Guests may activate their patron accounts to put items on hold.
  • Guests may not:
    • Renew books online
    • Request Interlibrary Loans

Registration in WMS

All guest borrowers must apply for Guest patron status by completing a blue New Patron slip. See pages for each Guest type for regulations specific to each group.

Information Commons Computer Use

Most library patron types may use the Information Commons computers. See each patron type for more information.

Priority is given to Hope International University students, faculty and staff for Information Commons (IC) computer use.

The Library staff has the authority to revoke privileges for infractions of any policy.
