Alexander-Campbell

Alexander Campbell is one of the key figures in Restoration Movement history.

What is the Restoration Movement?

The Restoration Movement began in the United States during the early 19th centuryBelieving that creeds were divisive, church leaders abandoned all denominational labels and promoted a return to the First Century New Testament church as its unifying theme. No organizational structure was established.

Ironically, since its inception, the Restoration Movement has divided into three main branches in the US: the Churches of Christ, the Christian churches and churches of Christ, and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

Hope International University associates its heritage with the independent non-denominational Christian Churches and Churches of Christ.
